Allard took the win by a single vote in what is considered one of the toughest categories voted on by the Motor Sports Press Association. This is the 43rd year the MSPA has presented the oval track - open wheel award. Allard beat out a number of top drivers on a ballot that included three series champions, including Civil War Series winner Sean Becker.

Allard is one of the top sprint car drivers in the west. He joined the Williams Motorsports Team in 2005 and continues to add to his racing resume. “It really is a big accomplishment and I couldn’t be more excited to win this award,” said Allard. “We had a really good year in 2008 and we’re off to another great start in 2009.”

In 2008, Allard became the 3rd driver to capture multiple championships in the 23 year history of the Golden State Challenge Series. Allard also took third in the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series sanctioned 55th annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway.

He also picked up a huge victory during the 17th annual Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals and scored a trio of wins in New Zealand.

This year, Allard is strong again and is currently leading the point standing with the Golden State Challenge Series in his K&N Filters No.0. He hopes to get his third career series title, which would make him the second driver in series history to reach at least three King of California championships.

Allard plans to be at the top of his game all season. He continues to use K&N products. “K&N makes the best oil and air filters for our cars,” he said. “K&N is easy to use and maintain. We just wash, assemble and race.”

His next race will be the 38th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cut June 18 at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Washington.
