The K&N 57S-9501 Performance Airbox is an air intake system that replaces the restrictive factory air filter and air intake assembly. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as well as smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 57S-9501 air intake comes with an oversized cone shaped K&N high-flow air filter, a fully enclosed injection-molded air box, a mandrel-bent aluminum air intake tube and a flexible air intake hose. The aluminum air intake tube is powder coated in a durable textured black finish. The performance air box has a removable lid for easy access to the filter when cleaning is required. The air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake system is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using the vehicle’s existing factory mounting points with commonly available tools. K&N builds these air intake systems to last for the life of your vehicle. Some K&N 57S Series Performance Airboxes are compliant with the latest TUV emissions and sound regulations. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific TUV status for each vehicle and air intake.

K&N 57S-9501 Performance Air Intake System Product Reviews

Friday, February 23, 2018 - Part 57S-9501
Hi, I bought my Diesel Golf second hand in 2015, it was responsive and enjoyable to drive. However it was also one of those that had to be returned to VW because of the emissions scandal. It was returned sluggish and unresponsive, different from what I was told. Having had a K&N air filter on a previous petrol car, I checked to see if there was one for my Golf. I bought the full performance kit and had it placed on the engine. Now at 67 years of age I have my mojo back and enjoying driving again. Acceleration is excellent.

Hi All, Thanks for the opportunity to give feed back on the install of the above to my 2012 VW Passat AllTrack 170PS Diesel. The install went in no problems in about half an hour as stated, although #15. Depending on the model, fit the other end of the cold air hose down to the under tray or grille and secure using the cable ties supplied. (Fig 13) I originally passed the cold air intake down to the under tray, this caused a couple of problems. 1 - the air intake became loose and subsequently sucked itself to the strut and therefore effectively strangled the intake and reduced the power to the engine and also caused the car to go into limp home mode. 2 - when looking for a better place to fit the intake I realized that I had actually reduced the height of the air intake to below that of the original car, as the car is an AllTrack and is 4WD and has slight off-road potential, I had just caused it to not be able to go through a puddle over 8 inches deep due to the placement of the intake. I looked at the airbox feed removed in point 5 of your instructions and with a bit of fiddling realised that this can be re-fitted and the intake piped into it. This should also work as a RAMAIR intake and thus force more air in at higher speeds (hopefully). If this can be added to future install sheets for others to follow I would be grateful. Thanks again, Kind Regards Mark
