The K&N 77-3078KTK Air Intake fits some Chevrolet Equinox, and GMC Terrain models. See vehicle applications link for details.
The K&N 77-3078KTK high-flow performance air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing on your vehicle are replaced by this K&N air intake system which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. The improved air flow allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than it would from the stock air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout your engine’s RPM range. The 77-3078KTK air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive black powder-coat finish that's made to last. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less. Some K&N 77 series air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

K&N 77-3078KTK Air Intake Product Reviews

Saturday, July 23, 2016 - Part 77-3078KTK
I received and installed my new K&N Cold Air Intake today. I went to the K&N site to review the installation instructions before my intake arrived. It took about 35 minutes from start to finish to install. It really helped viewing/reading the instructions on line ahead of time. All of the parts worked perfect and the installation was easy. I like everything about it but the extra noise it makes when accelerating. This is every time you go up a hill or step on the gas in general. I've had these on V8's before and the sound was much better, deeper and richer. This application is on a 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ 3.0L. To me, it sounds buzzy, not a rich tone. It makes it sound more like a 4 cylinder. I will try to get used to it, but, if not, the OEM system may go back on and this system might go on ebay. If anybody at K&N has some ideas to make this system sound better please contact me.

The parts list explained all the parts very well. There was some confusion as to where the hardware, hex verses torx bolts were supposed to be installed. That confusion was during the installation of the air filter shield. I think I figured it out. At one point I thought I was short a couple hex bolts but was ok. The other thing that I thought was odd was the shield does not fit tightly in the area on the windshield side of the filter. The installation is correct but the rubber seal does not fit tight up against the car body with a gap. Is it supposed to? Finally the few miles that I have driven the car the intake system is noticeably louder, but I was warned. I have only driven the car a few miles with the intake system installed before I had to put it in storage for the Winter. The area I live in extreme northern New York has many snow events and salt and sand applications on the road are frequent. So I don't drive the car until clean roads in the Spring. I'll have to wait until then to fully assess the air intake system. I did notice that gas usage seemed more. My son who put an air intake system in his car said gas usage will be a bit more for a couple of tanks of gas until the cars computer system gets used to the increased air and adjusts. The performance I did notice was increased a bit more from a standing start. So I wish I could give you a more useful analysis but that will have to wait until Spring. I hope that I get used to the increased noise and see the performance increase to be well worth the investment. The increase to six HP at 4900 RPM is good but I rarely found myself having the engine revs that high. So I have to adjust and learn to drive the car differently to reap the benefits of this system. I'll have to start with the increase in lower end torque and work my way up. Thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts.

The installation was easy enough and rather straight forward. Once installed the engine sounds really good. You can feel the difference in pick up immediately. Is the second cold air intake I have purchased from K&N first one was for a Dodge Dakota R/T 5.9 ltr. Love them both. Would recommend to everyone. Keep up the great work K&N!!!!
