The K&N 63-9039 Air Intake fits some Toyota Tacoma models. See vehicle applications link for details.
The K&N 63-9039 AirCharger air intake system replaces the restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing on specific Toyota Tacoma models. K&N air intakes are designed to dramatically reduce air intake restriction as well as smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the original air box space. Air is directed through an aerodynamically engineered intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The tube accommodates the factory mass air sensor, air temperature sensor and crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install, usually in 90 minutes or less using your vehicle’s existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a couple of screwdrivers, a ratchet set and several wrenches.

K&N 63-9039 Air Intake Product Reviews

Install was easy and I can definitely feel the difference when I drive. Only crappy thing is when I’m at a low idle it sounds like a popping noise or popcorn. Again, low RPM, around 1000-1500, it makes that noise. I know I did the install correctly and I know it’s residual noise but it’s so annoying. It’s not going to stop me from buying K&N products for all my cars and future cars.

Definitely an improvement over the stock air box.A little louder than expected especially when you get on it. People can hear you coming. Gets rid of the lag this 3.5 is known for upon lift off. All in all I'm happy with it. Not my first rodeo with K&N intakes.

Easy install, smoothed out the whole system. Instructions were clear and relatively simple. I had previously installed a new cat-back pipe and wasn't completely sold on the sound...the K&N intake helped the engine breathe and actually gave me a rich, deep, smooth tone from the pipes. Noticeable increase in response as well.

Helped tremendously to improve performance. Haven't checked fuel economy yet, but I really don't care. The performance was what I was looking for.

I love the Sound coming from under the hood and you can feel the increase of HP, still haven't look if the gas mileage is better or not yet, but from the gauge, it is a bit better on the gas.

I have been using K&N intake filters since my 1997 Chevy S10. Have always loved them; they work well. Add plenty of HP & a little rumble when you give the trucks a little extra pedal. I have had many pickups, all with K&N intakes in them. 1997 S10, 2002 Dodge Dakota, and 2007, 2012, 2016, & 2018 Tacoma's. Everyone of the intakes have been flawless, until I ordered the last intake for my 2018. Which was another 63-9039. When it arrived I inspected the intake tube (part No. 087311). I found what appeared to be grooved teeth marks from a drill bit of some sort. Along with brass shavings inside the tube. I reached out to K&N and the very nice customer service person shipped out a new tube that day. unfortunately, when that part arrived it was not put together correctly, as there were 1/4 molding drips inside the tube from where the tube had been molded/fused. I ended up sanding down the interior of the original tube to smooth out the roughness of the protruding marks and wiped out the interior with a wet terry cloth to remove the debris. The tube and rest of the system seem to work just fine, however I am a little concerned over the quality control at this time. This may have been just my experience this time, as I have never had an issue before, but did want to make sure this was addressed. To address the original question. The online ordering process was easy, fast, and there were no issues in that area. So for that, K&N does a very good job. Price was better than Amazon, shipping was prompt, and packaging was very good, no product externally damaged. Kind Regards, Jason -

Just installed a K&N air intake on my 2017 Tacoma. Shipping took about a week. Install took a little over an hour (with a little help). I'm extremely pleased with this intake. The sound is awesome. It gets pretty loud in the higher RPM's (4500-6000) but you can unmistakenly tell when the intake is operating as it was designed to. Haven't driven it far enough to see what the mpg is like, but from past trucks with K&N intakes they usually add 2-3 more MPG.

Very easy install, only took me about 45 minutes taking my time doing it. Good quality parts and hardware. No issues putting together or any issues using the new intake kit. Really smoothed out the engine during acceleration as sometimes before I noticed hesitation (again, with factory filter had hesitation). I have the TRD sport, and I have added a 6 lift with 33's and it still gave me an additional chunk of horsepower. I gained a couple of MPG's especially when I'm just cruising and click it into 6th gear and use the cruise. In terms of sound, it sounds nice and is not overly loud. I have read a lot of reviews of people complaining about this kit making the truck noisy; increasing the amount and speed of air entering the engine is naturally going to emit more sound than the factory setup, but it is NOT loud. I also appreciated that I received two decals. I'm glad I added this kit to my TRD sport.

Unit was easy to install and gave a noticeable improvement in performance, especially throttle response. Around 2500 RPM the noise starts and it gets louder with more RPMs. Well worth the time and effort.

Once installed, I lost about 3mpg. I was getting 23-24 mpg and now I am lucky if I can get 20. Not sure why I am losing mpg, thought it was suppose to improve. Any suggestions?? However, easy to install. Took me less than an hour and a half. Intake sounds great when you hit the gas.

Very pleased with the fit and function of this product. It's a bit louder than I thought it would be, but not bothered by it as it makes the truck sound a bit more manly.

Love it! My truck gets 3 more miles per gallon and has unrestricted power. Sounds a little rough but that's how truck should sound anyway. Worth every penny.

I first got it and was missing almost all of the hardware, called them up and they got me new hardware sent out the very day and it arrived the next day, so thanks for that. As a novice at working on cars, I found the instructions easy to follow, my only complaint being the pictures on the instructions were photographed with an onion. As for the filter itself, I installed it after the first 1000 miles, I noticed a slightly better response from the accelerator and a more deep throaty sound in the higher rpm band.

Well constructed, good fit and finish. Throttle response feels better but can't tell that there's any real power gain. The noise however is very noticeable. It's horrific under heavy acceleration. If your goal is to make your vehicle obnoxiously loud, then this is the kit for you.

The K&N I purchased was for a Tacoma 2016. It helped the low end torque, improved the gas mileage 1.3 mpg. Took me 30 mins to install. The sound is throaty. .great price. .dealer wanted 580.00 parts and labor. I am very pleased. ..

Does as advertised. Does increase power. Does remove the acceleration lag from the 2016 Tacoma. K&N flyer says it is nosier. Noise I can handle. Unfortunately, there is an unbelievable resonance at 3000 to 4000 rpm. It will melt your fillings. This is coming from somebody who used to race without mufflers. As long as you don’t push hard in the 3000 to 4000 band, you can handle the noise. You hit the accelerator hard where you force a downshift in that band, then the resonance hits. The only way to stop it is to back off. As for ease of installation, the flyer says 90 minutes. I had a professional mechanic do mine (I have a bad back and cannot lean over anymore). He did it in about 30 minutes. It is a straightforward installation. Bottom line: Yes, you do increase power. Yes, it gets rid of the acceleration lag in the 2016 Tacoma. Yes, it can be obscenely noisy.

The product has proven to increase my average MPG by about 1.5...from 19 to 20.5 with same driving habits. There is now a whistling sound when I step on the gas. I however did not receive a complimentary hat which would have been nice.

Installed in just over an hour. Fit and finish was great. Seems to have improved the power and torque. Certainly sounds angry when you push the noise pedal down.
