To add performance K&N replaces the Explorer's original intake assembly with an all new air intake kit. The new system pulls air through a K&N Lifetime High-Flow Chrome Top Air Filter (RF-1048) that increases air flow and filtering capacity.

A powder coated steel heat shield surrounds and protects the K&N Air Filter by isolating it from engine heat. The 57-2573 intake retains the use of their OE Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) which attaches to a mount that is welded to the intake tube.

It takes 90 minutes or less to install this air intake kit with simple hand tools and is also backed by the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
