The K&N 69-8619TS Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-8619TS air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield with insulation strips that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive silver powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor and crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, pliers, ratchet set and some wrenches. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

K&N 69-8619TS Air Intake Product Reviews

No big surprises here with the performance of the cold air intake purchased for my sons FR-S. It again outperforms exceptations which is why I have K&N cold air intake systems on our Infiniti and Nissan Titan too. On top of a great product they have a best in class customer service group.

Installation was not complicated. Instructions were spot on. Throttle response and power increase was noticeable after installation. So far I am happy.

This is my 2nd review of this product. I had a issue with the heat barrier stickers peeling off. I spoke to customer service and was told that they would send me new stickers, which I would expect from a good customer service department. After voicing concerns that the stickers might peel again I was happily transferred to their tech department which had advised me that not only would they send me new stickers they are also sending me cleaning solution to prep the heat shield for the sticker and also a new heat shield itself. WOW! Can you say over and above customer service. If all manufacturers had customer service this good, then the world would be a happier place. Keep up the good work. Rick

Really good product, I was researching between brands before buying it, and my friends got different brands, but out of all of them, this one was really good!

To say I am extremely pleased with the difference the Typhoon Induction Kit has made to my Subaru BRZ's performance is an understatement! Throttle response is vastly improved and the flat spot that was present with the standard filter set up between 3 and 5 thousand RPM has all but disappeared. The horsepower and torque gains are really noticeable easily shaving over a second off the 0 to 60 mph time. An added bonus is the sound when you plant the throttle and take it to the red line which reminds me of a refined version of the Lotus Cortina I owned years ago. Cruising at 80 it seems quieter than standard but drop a cog and plant the loud pedal and wow! The kit is very easy to fit given the clear instructions and video link provided with the only fiddly bit being threading the intake tube through the hole in the plenum box with the seal in place. I found it easier to fit the seal afterwards using a bit of WD40 to lubricate the channel on the seal. All in all, at the price it is an absolute bargain considering the improvements it gives. I was at one time considering supercharging but now I've given up on that idea. Using the revs and going through the box with that glorious soundtrack and extra oomph on a decent cross country road delivers more than enough pleasure. The BRZ is not about traffic light drag races. It's all about handling and real purist driver involvement and the Typhoon Kit makes that pleasure so much more rewarding.
