The K&N 69-6012TS Air Intake fits some Mazda Mazdaspeed3 models. See vehicle applications link for details.
The K&N 69-6012TS Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Mazda Mazdaspeed3 models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-6012TS air intake comes with a black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s turbo inlet for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive silver powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor and a replacement silicone crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a couple of screwdrivers, a ratchet set and some wrenches. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

Worth every penny I wish I would have purchased much sooner than I did. I doubted the dyno testing but can now say I'm a believer. Very big improvement for less than $300. The performance difference is unbelievable for the price. It only gets 4 out of 5 stars because of the 90 degree vent that you need to install into the intake tube. The instructions say that it's easy to cross thread. This is an understatment. The vent tube is cheap plastic that is supposed to thread in to the aluminum intake tube. The threads on my intake tube were poorly milled. I'm an experienced person and still had difficulty getting the vent threaded in. I ended up cleaning up the threads on the intake tube with a dremel to finally get the tube installed. A higher grade plastic such as polyeurethane would make this install simple. I still love it. It would have been better without the frustration.

Super easy to install! It was my first time doing anything to a car other than changing a headlight bulb or adding windshield washer fluid and the only thing that slowed me down was my own incompetence. Intense intake shriek and noticeable power gains.
