The K&N AirCharger 63-1563 air intake system replaces your vehicle’s restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your vehicle’s engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 63-1563 air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that directs cooler air into the custom molded intake for a guaranteed power gain. The oversized air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install requiring only pliers, a socket set and several wrenches. This air intake cannot be sold in California. It is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards.

This is my second K&N system. The first was on a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This system I installed on my 2018 Dodge Durango R/T. Installation was simple and the instructions were very easy to follow. One suggestion for you would be putting dish soap on the outside of the inlet air temperature sensor as that made installing it in the tube much easier. It kept popping out before I did that and the soap ensured that I wouldn't put to much pressure on the sensor trying to get it installed properly. The Durango only has 300 miles on it so it will be a while before I get to enjoy the benefits of improved power and fuel economy, both of which I had with the K&N on the 2011 Jeep.

First of all, WOT performance is significantly improved, the 5.7l in our Grand Cherokee must be starved for air from the factory because there is a noticeable seat of the pants improvement. The engine now growls from under the hood and you know you're driving a v8, it's a different car. Perhaps even more significant than WOT driving is the 'rev hang' of normal driving is gone and shifting seems to be improved. The motor doesn't rev as high and shifts quicker while you accelerate, there is no hang at 2500 - 3000 rpm's between shifts. The only negative comment I have is the rubber grommet is not the best fitment for the temperature sensor, it's a bit of a round peg in a square hole compared to the plastic fitting, o-ring and retaining clip from the factory. It's a delicate piece that requires too much force to make work with the grommet and is at an angle that places it precariously close to the coil pack. I'm still giving it 5 stars because the sensor has not worked it's way out of the grommet yet and you can not beat the performance you get for the money or overall labor investment.
