Ballard ran 9.745 seconds at 137.18 mph and qualified the K&N Filters Chevy Cobalt in the No.3 position. On race day Ballard held a 48 point lead and wrapped up the championship after his second round win with an ET of 9.57 at 149.25 mph. For the Sloatsburg, New York resident this was his fourth consecutive NOPI Championship, and his second straight title in a Chevy Cobalt in the TurboStreet category. Earlier this season, Ballard clinched his first NHRA Quick 16 East crown in the same K&N Filters Chevy Cobalt.

Ballard wanted more than the championship and went on to run low ET of the Maryland event in the semi-finals to win his fourth victory in the six final-round appearances of 2007.
“To cap the season off with a win and our fourth consecutive championship speaks to the high caliber of the team I race with,” said Ballard. “It also helps to have the best sponsors in Sport Compact Drag Racing. K&N Oil Filters keep the rocks out of my engine.”
The 2007 K&N CSI Racing Chevy Cobalt will be on display in the GM Tuner Tour Booth during the 2007 NOPI Nationals at Atlanta Motor Speedway on September 15-16.
