Two events, one weekend in the Carolinas and Chris Steele Racing all add up to success. The Rock Hill, South Carolina racer went to Thunder Valley Speedway in Lawndale, North Carolina for the first event.

Steele climbed behind the wheel of a Limited Sportsman car at the 4/10ths mile high-banked oval track. He had the lead but his tires failed and he came in third place.

The second event of the weekend brought Steele and his team to the third leg of the City Chevrolet Big 10 Shootout at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina. In the Crate Late Model qualifying heat, Steele set the fast time with a lap of 17.440 seconds around the 3/8ths mile oval. His lap was nearly two-tenths faster than his closest competitor.

In the heat, Big John Pursley was able to out duel Steele for the lead and the win. Steele took second place in the eight lap race. The finish put Steele in a good position for the night’s feature event. Unfortunately rain washed away the rest of the program.

“As always our K&N Filters performed to perfection,” said Steele. “We are using the lower horse powered 602 crate engine competing against the 604s and we have to have the air flow to our carburetor to make maximum horse power. K&N ensures that we get the maximum clean air flow possible.”

Cherokee Speedway has rescheduled the event for Saturday night June 30. Steele had planned on attending the Fastrak Series National event at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. The team, however, opted to return to Cherokee Speedway for the Big 10 feature.
