United Kingdom Supported British Autograss (BAS) racer Phil Cooper has won the class 9 championship lead after a strong weekend showing.

Cooper competed in the penultimate round of the British Autograss Championship on a wet and muddy track. In the Lexus Touring car engineered ARD special Cooper took maximum points in the heats. With three back-to-back wins the motorsports driver had lane choice options in the final.

Cooper picked lane 5 but as the full grid took the start he dropped back to 4th into the first corner. After some wheel banging Cooper emerged in 2nd place. The lead pair then circulated nose to tail for the remainder of the race with Cooper showing his nose on a couple of occasions.

Cooper took 2nd after deciding it would be better to earn points instead of a DNF. With one round left Cooper leads class 9 and is 3rd overall out of 600 drivers. Lynn Cooper, Phil Cooper’s mother also made the final over the weekend. She took 7th overall.
