Donny Schatz and the ParkerStore Team won his second career World of Outlaw (WoO) victory at Lebanon Valley Speedway. It was the current World of Outlaws points leader's annual visit to the unique speedway near Albany, New York.

In 2001, Schatz led the race flag-to-flag. “I told my guys that I was really looking forward to coming here,” said Schatz. “I’m not sure the other drivers were as excited as I was, but I feel like I got a good handle on this track last year when we came from 12th to finish second.”

The victory at Lebanon Valley took away some of the bitter taste of Saturday night’s runner-up finish in the $20,000-to-win Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals finale at Williams Grove Speedway. Saturday’s second place finish was the 11th runner-up finish in WoO action this season for the Fargo, North Dakota racer. Sunday’s win at Lebanon marked the seventh time this year that he has followed a second place run with a victory.

“We work hard as a team to be one of the guys to beat every night,” said Schatz, who began last week by winning Tuesday night’s Don Martian Memorial Silver Cup XV. “Crew chief Ricker Warner, Shane Bowers and James Zartman are doing a great job of giving me a strong car every night. Our car was really good in the dash, so when the feature came around I knew we had a great shot at winning.”

Schatz and the ParkerStore Team use K&N Engineering products in the World of Outlaws Series. “With the K&N Sprint Car Airbox we get the highest performance possible because we get maximum airflow,” said Schatz. “The dirt and debris from the track stay out of our engines.”

Schatz began Sunday evening by turning the fourth fastest lap in qualifications and then finished third in the third heat race. The heat finish earned Schatz a position in the dash event, which set the first five rows of the feature event. Schatz raced from his third starting position in the six-lap race and went on to win his fourth dash event of the season.

After a first lap spin by outside front row started Jason Martin, Schatz seized control of the race on the second start and built a commanding three-second lead by lap six and continued to add to his advantage increasing his lead to more than six seconds before a lap 18 caution slowed the action. Schatz pulled away during the final 12 laps and went on to win his 60th career World of Outlaws feature (44th “A” Feature win).

The ParkerStore team heads to the Fulton Speedway just north of Syracuse, New York Tuesday night.
