Lindsey Wood drove her 2006 Undercover Chassis-built Super Comp at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 37th annual K&N Filters SuperNationals presented by Strauss Auto.

In Super Comp Round 1 the 21-year-old racer came in third with an 8.90 index. “I lost the second round,” said Wood. “I just couldn’t get a number.” Franklin Di Bartolomeo took Sunday’s final of the $1.8 million K&N Filters NHRA SuperNationals.

Wood said her dragster was working well. “I just don’t seem to have any luck this year,” she said. “We are going to build a new motor this summer.” Wood won Super Comp at the NHRA Gatornationals in 2005 at age 20. By then, she already had more than 10 years of drag racing experience. “We use K&N Filters,” said Wood. “The K&N Air Filters keeps all the dirt and rocks out of the engine.” she said.

At Englishtown, New Jersey Wood signed autographs in the K&N Truck and Trailer on Nitro Alley Friday and Saturday. “I was really nervous at first, because I had Morgan Lucas on one side, Phil Burkart and Del Worsham on the other side,” said Wood. “They were great, joking and laughing with all the fans and teasing me about it being my first time signing autographs.”

Wood said she had a great time. “Little girls were asking me how to get into racing, and everyone was very nice,” she said. “A lot of people didn’t say anything, but those that did spoke about how much they love using K&N products and how good the K&N Filters are.”

Wood plans to test her new motor this summer. Her next race will be at Indy for the US Nationals in September.
