“I have to continue to finish strong,” said Swanson. “I hope to get more top finishes in the last few races.”

Swanson drove the Speed Wong Racing No. 72 for the first time in a long time. He tested it out only one time at a practice session earlier in the year. “It took me a few laps to figure out how this car drove, but I managed to improve my times,” he said. “I qualified 13th. The field was intense because with only a few races to go everyone was trying extra hard to finish with the most points.”

On lap five, the Norco, California teen moved into 12th position, and was in 9th place after lap 20. “During the ten-lap dash to the finish I set my sights on the No. 148 car which was in 7th place,” he said. “Within three laps I caught him and was trying to pass. In the end I came up just short. I was happy to finish in 8th place because the No. 72  was a new car for me.”

Swanson is sponsored by K&N Engineering. “We use K&N air and oil filters on the Legend cars that Cody drives,” said Cody’s father Kirk Swanson. “The ease, service and superior quality are very much appreciated and play a key role in protecting these high-revving engines.”

Swanson rode his first dirt bike at 3-years-old. At 7, he was in his first go kart and began racing in competitions at 10. He is highly motivated and races at some of the most challenging tracks in the southwestern United States.
