K&N has identified the need for a Category Management Manager to support our continued expansion of our current four brands across multiple channels including customers such as Amazon, Walmart & AutoZone. This role will be instrumental in helping bring analytical support to the sales account managers and brand managers. You will collaborate with internal personnel and external partners, working to successfully meet or exceed business objectives. In this role, you will also be a key member of the marketing department and will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including brand marketing, sales, R&D and our external customer partners in all channels and across all the companies’ brands.
The ideal candidate will have previous category management experience in automotive or equivalent/relevant CPG industry. Candidates should also have a proven track record of successfully managing category management programs that meet business objectives and target metrics.
Category Management Strategy & Execution Responsibilities
Quarterly Planning Session/ Board Meeting Prep - Support total category management analyses through the gathering of relevant facts and insights. Prepare data in easily understandable format for Senior Leadership & the Board to use a tool for high level decision making processes.
Consumer / Shopper Insights - Support preparation of customer presentations by identifying relevant facts and insights using NPD, POS, AAIA, custom K&N research on consumer / shopper insights. Assist in presenting this information to the buyer.
Work with sales on COOP promotion analysis & best in class execution to drive the best ROI for our customers and K&N.
Sales analysis for Internet and High-Volume Retail channels including customers like Amazon, Walmart & AutoZone.
Help with international analysis in regard to consumer insights and sales across China, Germany, Australia, etc.
When requested by high volume customers, provide in depth analysis on various aspects of the customer’s business & be able to provide full aisle recommendations if requested.
Modular Line Review Prep & Update Execution - Assist in the presentation of the line review with customers to improve category strategies and plans. Support modular update preparation, development, and implementation.
Recurring Reports - Responsible for providing category management reports, trend analysis, customized customer reports and special project work to brand & sales managers as well as to our customers.
Support ongoing maintenance of category databases for use within our POS reporting tools and creating inventory models off POS and shipment data.

Oversees the development and execution of category management projects.
Manages internal and external clients and vendor related projects.
Sets and achieves objectives/deadlines and leads teams to successfully meet strategic imperatives.
Works to establish organizational/departmental processes and protocols as it pertains to category management execution.
Administers category management initiatives in a “test and learn” culture.
Analysis & Best Practices
Works to adequately measure and optimize campaign performance while also establishing benchmarks and recommending improvements as well as best practices.
Compiles reviews and communicates monthly qualitative and quantitative reports driving actionable insights for future efforts.
Identify and analyze issues, patterns and trend and product performance.
Justify investments through business metrics (ROI), optimization and testing.
Proactively escalates issues, observations, opportunities and insights to internal marketing, sales and R&D teams.
Communicates best practices and shares lessons learned throughout the organization.
Works with internal and external partners to ensure the successful adoption and utilization of corporate analytics systems.
Additional Qualities Necessary
Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in Business Administration or Applied Mathematics.
2-5 years of Category Management Experience.
Experience in the Automotive or relevant CPG industry preferred.
Highly analytical and articulate
Self-starter and, simultaneously, a team player.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage several concurrent activities and thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Great presentation and interpersonal skills.
Excellent in Microsoft Excel.
Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, and Word.
Possesses a spirit of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and innovation.
Ability to travel.
Ability to sit for two-hour intervals and perform data entry/word processing functions.
