K&N sponsored Allard led all 30 laps during opening night to pick up his first career World of Outlaws Preliminary win. The 31-year-old Chico native was on the mark all night long as he won his heat race, the eight lap dash and dominated the 30 lap event.

“We use K&N Engineering Oil and Air Filters along with K&N’s Carbon Fiber Air Box,” said Allard. “K&N makes the best products, the oil and air filters are easy to use and maintain.”

Allard began the evening by turning the seventh fastest lap in the field of 47 World of Outlaw Sprint Series race cars. Even though he drew a late number, Allard cut a solid lap and earned a good amount of qualifying points in the K&N Filters No.0.

It’s been a month of tough luck for Allard, but this time it was his turn to shine. Pole sitter Donny Schatz jumped the start of the night’s third heat race. Officials moved Schatz back one row and it bumped Allard up to the pole. Allard also drew the number one spot for the Crane Cams Dash. He throttled out of turn four into the lead and proceeded to dominate the eight lap contest to earn the pole for the 30 lap preliminary night feature.

Allard blasted into the lead at the green flag and stayed strong though multiple caution periods that slowed down the race. Allard managed to pull away from the pack during each restart.

The final caution of the race came out on lap 26 and it set up a four lap dash to the finish. Allard drove four of his best laps this season to pull away and pick up one of his biggest career wins and first ever in a World of Outlaws sanctioned event.

After the first night of action at the 54th annual Gold Cup Race of Champions, Allard is on top of the point standing with 538 points. Tonight will feature a new group of drivers and Allard will wait and see how it plays out. Saturday night’s finale will pay $50,000 to win and will crown this year’s Gold Cup Champ.
