K&N Announces 57-Series FIPK® Cold-Air System For BMW M3s

RIVERSIDE, CA - In 2003, AutoWeek declared the BMW M3 "Best Sports Coupe." Other enthusiast magazines have bestowed similar accolades on the car. But K&N engineers have given the M3 an even more valuable gift: more power.

In stock form, the 2001-2005 BMW M3's 3.2L engine puts out 333 HP-more than 100 horsepower per liter. K&N offers guaranteed horsepower for the M3's S54 straight-six with its new 57-Series Fuel Injection Performance Kit (FIPK®), Part No. 57-1003. Owners of 1995-1999 M3's can benefit as well with K&N's PN# 57-1000 Intake Kit.

Simplistically, K&N produces this extra power by feeding the engine a greater volume of air than the stock paper filter and airbox can. The 57-Series FIPK® is aerodynamically engineered to accelerate incoming air through the system: from the time it hits the filter's pleats through the kit's precision-formed intake tube and past the BMW mass-airflow sensor.

To keep incoming air as cool and dense as possible, the 57-Series FIPK® shrouds the filter in a metal heat shield. Air is then cleaned by an original K&N High-Flow Air Filter. Its filtration surface is made of multiple layers of oil-impregnated cotton over stainless-steel mesh. This time-proven design increases airflow while attracting and trapping more dirt than the OE filtration system. Backed by the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty®, this filter can be repeatedly washed and re-oiled with a K&N Recharger® Kit. Service intervals as high as 100,000 miles.

Installation is easily completed by the do-it-yourselfer. No drilling is required, and the 57-Series kit includes illustrated instructions as well as all necessary mounting hardware.
