Kathryne Minter competes full-throttle in the ASCS Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series

A quick glance at the beautiful Kathryne Minter and it would be hard to tell that she is a talented and competitive driver of the 2009 ASCS Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series. This 18-year-old racer's weapon of choice is the # 13 Maxim chassis powered by WESMAR Racing Engines, which is equipped at all times with a K&N Sprint Car Style Air Box.

"I definitely notice that by combining K&N filters with Purple Oil, I see a difference in the longevity of my motor," says Kathryne. "I don't have to worry if I'm gonna be able to make it through the next race. I may not have the biggest motor, but because it's so much cleaner and healthier, it runs a lot better than some of my competitors' motors who are not using K&N filters."

Kathryne's racing career may have begun only four years ago, but the 2006 graduate of the Lyn St. James Driver Development Program has won more than 60 feature races. In 2007 Kathryne finished 8th in points for the ASCS Gulf South Region, and also received 'Rookie of the Year' honors.

During the 2008 season, she ran the ASCoT National Series Tour and finished 11th in points. Kathryne was awarded with perfect attendance and also accepted the 'Young Lion Award' for being the youngest driver to complete the tour.

When on the track, Kathryne doesn't think twice about being a female racer in a male-dominated sport. "We are all the same when you get on the race track," she says. "I'm just another car, another number."

However, there is no question that Kathryne gets a lot of attention off-track. "I try to set a good example at all times and maintain a good attitude, especially because I have a lot of younger fans," she says. "I am very lucky to have fans that support me no matter how I finish."

This dedicated racer recently graduated high school, which was not an easy task considering her busy schedule. Kathryne studied an intense curriculum by taking classes online, all so she could attend every race on the national tour. Once a ballerina and soccer player, Kathryne gave up both activities to devote all her time to racing. "Racing had everything I was looking for; the physical aspect, the adrenaline rush, the competition - I didn't want to do anything else!"

Next up on the schedule for Kathryne Minter Racing, the team heads to the ASCS National Tour race at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas.
