Add Estimated 23 Horsepower to Porsche Carrera and 911 with K&N Performance Air Intake System

The Porsche 911 is a racing car for the road with a lineage that dates back more than 40 years. In 1999 a new Porsche 911, known to purists as the 996, made its debut. Radical improvements were made to Porsche's flagship vehicle, most notably the new water-cooled 6-cylinder boxer engine. The company's racing heritagehelped shape the 996's driver environment, its controls, and of course, its performance.

K&N Engineering, Inc. has designed a Performance Air Intake System (57-7000) for the 2002 and 2003 Porsche Carrera 3.6L H6, 1999 to 2001 Porsche 911 3.4L H6, 2004 and 2005 Porsche 911 non-turbo 3.6L, and 2001 and 2002 Porsche 911 with the 3.6L engine.

The Porsche Carrera boasts increased performance over the previous generation 911. Install a K&N Performance Intake System and the Carrera is an even greater force to be reckoned with. K&N tests on our in-house dynamometer have shown an estimated gain of 23.80 Horsepower at 5500 RPM with the 57-7000 Intake System. "We were able to get such good horsepower because the original factory airbox is restrictive," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "The design of the K&N Intake Tube and repositioning of the mass air sensor is a big reason why we were able to get so much power."

K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten airflow. This allows your engine to pull in air with ease compared to the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more power and torque when you need it. With a K&N Performance Air Intake System, consumers can count on extra horsepower whether driving around town, enjoying a winding mountain road, or shooting for a new track record.

This air intake system uses a conical shaped carbon fiber top high-flow air filter (RP- 4630). "We used the carbon top on the filter to add to the appeal of the Porsche look," said Heck. Also included with the 57-7000 is K&N Drycharger® part number RC-4630DK.The K&N Drycharger® is a silicone treated, polyester wrap that is made to cover K&N Air Filters. Uniform micron sized openings in the Drycharger allow optimum airflow, increase service life, and repel water.
This intake system uses the largest conical shaped High-Flow Carbon Top Air Filter (RP- 4630) that can fit into the engine compartment and a powder coated aluminum heat shield in place of the vehicle's stock air box. The result is an air filter that captures harmful particles, provides more surface area, flows more air, and has a long service life. This K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions. Improving the air path between the filter and the motor is the rotationally-molded high-density polyethylene tube. It offers the most flexibility in design and outstanding horsepower numbers. "It's a very straight forward installation" according to Heck and takes about 90 minutes or less to install this system with simple tools. It is covered by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty and is street legal in all 50 US States.
