K&N Engineering has developed a performance air intake system (57-3055) that is street legal in 50 states for the 2005 and 2006 Chevrolet SSR with 6.0 liter V8 engine. K&N dynamometer testing shows a 12.75 horsepower gain at 4700 rpm.

K&N has developed a one-of-a-kind carbon fiber top and base air filter (RP-5115) that is oval shaped for the 2005 and 2006 Chevrolet SSR. There is minimal clearance under the hood on the 2005 SSR, but after extensive research and development K&N designed an air filter that is the perfect size specifically for this vehicle.
