Product Reviews    Review part 99-5000

This KN air filter system is GREAT. Just cleaned my filter for the first time at 25,000 miles, dirt roads and all. The KN filter cleaning kit is so easy to use, don't even think of cleaning any other way. Results: just like brand new.

K&N:

I have been using your filter since my car had about 60,000 miles.  I am now at about 207,000 miles and my car still does not burn any oil.  There is no lifter knocks or any signs of an old engine.

I live in Illinois and drive the Tristate Tollway (I294) ever day.  It has been under construction for the last two years, but this year they have stepped up the work a lot.  I am continually driving through dust and most times and don't even want to wash my car because I know it will be all dusty the next day.  I had cleaned my filter in the spring April or May of  2009  and driven approximately 6000 miles since I just cleaned it today.

I thought with all the dust that I should probably clean it again.  When I opened the compartment and first saw the filter from the engine side, I thought it was still OK (It looked like the day I last cleaned it.).  Then I looked at the other side that was extremely dirty.  I sprayed the filter with your Air filter cleaner and let it sit the suggested 10 minutes.  When I rinsed the filter, there was actual mud or perhaps concrete dust coming off the air side of the filter.  I washed it again and again there was the same mud, but to a lesser degree.   After four washings I finally got it clean.

I would hate to think of all those people running I294 with paper air filters.  When I used to change the paper filter it was always dirty on the inside.  I assume this let some dirt in the engine.  Yours was just as clean as when I last cleaned it, on the engine side.

I think your filter may have saved my Monte Carlo engine from a problem, even though it has high mileage that some people would consider a normal death.

I am looking to 300,000 miles.  Thank you for keeping my engine clean and operating for the next 100.000 miles.

I have a '00 Explorer and the day I bought it, 2 1/2 years ago, I put the drop in K&N filter in it. I use my truck every single day. I work out of it, commute, road trip, offroad trail riding, mudding, towing everything from the jet ski to hauling my buddy's car back to town. You name it I've put my truck through it. It even sank halfway into a pond, didn't hydrolock the motor. So I think it's safe to say I use my truck a lot harder than your average driver. And with the K&N in it I can tell the difference from a regular paper filter. I don't know how it has affected my gas mileage because my truck is lifted with 31 mud terrains plus I recently put an after market exhaust on it. Today I realized that I had over 54,000 miles on the filter of extremely hard driving on it. I thought that I might have to get a new one with the abuse I've put it through but decided to try the filter recharger kit #99-5000. I had to use the cleaner twice but other than the usual wear and tear like the mesh being a little bent and the rubber being a little worn it looks almost brand new. K&N is awesome, thanks.
