The K&N 77-2587KS Air Intake fits some Ford Explorer models. See vehicle applications link for details.
The K&N 77-2587KS high-flow performance air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit specific Ford Explorer models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing on your vehicle are replaced by this K&N air intake system which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. The improved air flow allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than it would from the stock air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout your engine’s RPM range. In addition to more power, this air intake system improves engine sound with more aggressive and deeper acoustics during acceleration. The chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter includes a heat shield that installs into the original air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s turbo inlet for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive silver powder-coated finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory inlet air temperature sensor. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a ratchet set and several wrenches. Some K&N 77 series air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

K&N 77-2587KS Air Intake Product Reviews

Thursday, January 26, 2017 - Part 77-2587KS
I don't' usually write reviews, but l thought that my comments may help someone else avoid the frustration that l had with this air intake system. It is a great product there is no doubt, but l ordered it for my 2016 Ford Explorer with the 2.3L ecoboost and was disappointed to find that the intake tube had to be modified for the air temperature sensor. I was under the impression by photos, video, and etc. that it was basically swapping out the factory air box with new system and that's it. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The intake tube needs a new 2 hole to accomodate the air temperature sensor and then you have to use a block out plate to cover the existing hole. I could perform this modification without issue, but the finished product look is not what I was looking for. Maybe someday they will make a specific intake tube to fit newer vehicles. On a good note, the customer service did agree to take it back and pay the shipping .
