The K&N 69-8754TR Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Toyota Avensis and Corolla models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-8754TR air intake comes with a black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive red powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a couple of screwdrivers, pliers, a ratchet set and an Allen wrench. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

Well I have been using K&N panel air filters for many years. I am a taxi in Cambridge, done 449,000 miles on a Mondeo diesel estate, 340,000 on a audi A6 diesel estate. Now just got a Toyota Avensis 2.0 diesel estate 10,000 miles, all these miles on above cars I had from day one a K&N air filters. Yes as soon as you fit air filter you notice the difference in slight more power, smoother, its a no brainer to buy and fit. Work it out about every 40,000 miles need to buy cleaner and clean the filter not because its noticeable driving car but it just looks dirty, every service you do not buy a air filter. Only a few services and you got your money back on the cost of K&N air filter.

I wanted to buy a filter for my new Toyota Avensis. It is an eighteen hundred cc petrol powered Tourer and although the original paper filter was adequate, the K&N cotton based filter certainly made a marked improvement in performance. I would certainly recommend others to change to K&N's cotton filters but take advice first regarding your type of engine and what you want from the filter. I have had the filter in the car for about a month now and am going to purchase K&N's Care Service Kit to keep the filter in tip-top condition. When the car comes out of warranty, I am going to make more improvements to the car by using other K&N products. I am a seventy year old who thinks he is forty (so my wife keeps reminding me).
