The K&N 69-8614TS Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Scion TC models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-8614TS air intake comes with a black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive silver powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor, EVAP solenoid valve and crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a couple of screwdrivers, pliers, a ratchet set and some wrenches. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

I have had my Typhoon 69 for two years now and I just love what it does for my Scion Tc. The sound it makes when I step on the gas is awesome. The extra horse power I get allows me to keep pace with cars with bigger engines.

I bought a brand new 2012 Scion tc and after the first oil change installed a replacement air filter (k&n 33-2326). I gained 4 mpg avg. and better overall performance.

Got a K&N air filter for my 2008 Scion tC 5 speed.  This transmission unfortunately is geared to make the engine scream at highway speeds (over 4000 RPM at 70 mph).  After putting in the KN, I noticed a different engine note, not louder per se but more of a whooshing almost turbo-like sound at highway speeds which was very cool.  Not coincidentally, my highway mpg which I meticulously calculate at every fill-up went from 29 to 31 and combined mileage from 25 to 26. Neat.  Thanks guys.
