The K&N 69-8606TB Typhoon cold-air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Scion XA and Toyota Yaris models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon cold-air intake which is designed to pull in outside air and dramatically reduce air flow restriction by smoothing and straightening air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-8606TB cold-air intake consists of a black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filter that mounts near the driver side wheel well directing outside air through free-flowing aluminum tubing delivering high volumes of clean air into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive blue powder-coat finish that's made to last. The cold-air intake system accommodates the factory mass air sensor and a replacement silicone crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter comes with a water repellent DryCharger filter wrap to protect the filter from moisture. The air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This cold air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a couple of screwdrivers, cutters, a ratchet set and an Allen wrench. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

Customer Feedback      Be the first to review part 69-8606TB

Dear K&N team,
You encourage your customers to send you their results. So these are mine:

I am from southern Germany. I used to drive an old VW Golf from 1988. A few years ago I replaced the original foam filter with a K&N filter charger. Because I had driven the car a few years at that time I immediately recognized a slight improvement of performance; moreover, my car had more torque and needed less fuel. But the effect was really just above to be noticed.

Now I have a new car, brand new this time, a Toyota Yaris 1,0L. I replaced the original air filter after about 4000 kilometers with a K&N filter charger. I noticed during change that the K&N is VERY thin compared with the original filter (which is cotton too, I think). I even breathed through the original, what left me exhausted ;) because it was so thick. I never had any problems with the K&N filter while it was in my VW Golf, so I put that thin thing into my new car and took it for a ride. What shall I say? The effect was overwhelming. My car now has more torque, more power, goes faster AND needs less fuel. I know this sounds impossible, but it is true. I can drive 140 to 150 kilometers per hours with about 6,5 or even 6,0 liters of fuel! I calculated after a few weeks and I found out that my car now needs about 0,5 to 0,75 liters less fuel than before the filter change!

I will recommend K&N filters to all my friends & family. I should mention that the reason I bought K&N filters was in the first place for making my car more environment-friendly. That they did help me with for both of my cars.

Thank you very much for this high-quality product!

All the best & greetings from Germany,
Christian Daser, Traunstein, Germany
I've kept only K&N oil filters on my 1996 Chevy Tahoe 2dr, 4x4, but also my 2006 Cadillac CTS and my 2008 Toyota Camry. I keep synthetic oil in all my vehicles and I personally change the oil frequently always using K&N oil filters. Easy to install and are truly the best!

These filters are excellent quality and fit. I bought this filter a while back for my Toyota to see how well it worked. I was very pleased, and went ahead and purchased this one for my pick-up. I would highly recommend this filter, and K&N has been an excellent company to deal with. Order was processed and shipped immediately.
