The K&N 69-7201TP Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Pontiac GTO models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-7201TP air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive chrome-like finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor and crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, ratchet set and some wrenches. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

Customer Feedback

I got a K&N intake for my '06 Pontiac GTO soon after getting the car brand new. My recent purchase was a replacement filter for that intake. K&N makes great products that should come as standard equipment on all performance vehicles. The car ran better, faster and sounded like the muscle car it is as soon as I installed the intake. It's only logical that a car can run with more power if it can breathe better. If you had athsma you wouldn't participate in a track meet without an inhaler. The same is true with petrolium powered engines. Thanks for your contribution to auto enthusiasts everywhere!

Filter is used on 2007 Charger SRT8 Superbee w/ 0-40 Mobile One synthetic. I used this same upgraded filter on my 2004 Pontiac GTO w/ 5-30 Mobile One. It gives me re-assurance of maximum filteration capability and good service life for my 6k/mile intervals.

I have had the K&N chrome intake system on my 2006 Pontiac GTO for several years now.  Not only does the system look great under the hood, it allows the car to reach it's full performance potential.  I can't understand why the auto makers of high performance vehicles don't automatically install a K&N system as standard equipment.  Any car with a supercharger or turbo shouldn't be without one!
