The K&N 69-6543TR Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-6543TR air intake comes with an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the turbo inlet for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive red powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor and bypass valve vent hose as well as a replacement silicone crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, needle nose pliers, ratchet set and an Allen wrench. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

Customer Feedback      Be the first to review part 69-6543TR

Fit my 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport perfectly. I drive conservatively so it added approximately 2-3 mpg to my usual average.
Ali Erikenoglu, New Jersey
I have fitted a K&N panel filter to my 2008 ML Mitsubishi Triton 3.2 Turbo Diesel. From the first drive I realised what a difference it makes to power / acceleration. I have also fitted a 3 exhaust and Diesel Power module chip. The filter brings everything together, air in and exhaust out, what else do you need!!
The real difference will be when I do a long run to see how the fuel efficiency goes but judging by the difference so far it will be favourable.
JAMES DUNHAM, PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
I replaced the OEM filter that came with the [brand] carbon fiber case high performance filter system I run on my 2002 Cyclone M2.I don't believe there is anything better. I use K&N oil & air filters on almost everything I own, (two bikes, one Ram 3500 P/U, a Mitsubishi compact diesel tractor and three V-8's, one Pontiac, one Ford and one Chevrolet.
