The K&N 69-6501TP Typhoon cold-air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Mitsubishi Eclipse and Eclipse GT models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon cold-air intake which is designed to pull in outside air and dramatically reduce air flow restriction by smoothing and straightening air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-6501TP cold-air intake consists of a black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filter that mounts near the driver side wheel well directing outside air through free-flowing aluminum tubing into a short ram induction tube that delivers high volumes of clean air into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tubes have an attractive chrome-like finish that's made to last. The cold-air intake system accommodates the factory mass air sensor and crankcase vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter comes with a water repellent DryCharger filter wrap to protect the filter from moisture. The air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This cold air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a ratchet set, pliers and some Allen wrenches. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

This thing is awesome you can just feel it under your hood!

At 6000 RPM it just growls :D

I won't change my exhaust just because I love the intake sound!
BTW I have an Eclipse 2001 GT.

I did feel performance improvement!

Worth the money!

Fit my 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport perfectly. I drive conservatively so it added approximately 2-3 mpg to my usual average.

I have fitted a K&N panel filter to my 2008 ML Mitsubishi Triton 3.2 Turbo Diesel. From the first drive I realised what a difference it makes to power / acceleration. I have also fitted a 3 exhaust and Diesel Power module chip. The filter brings everything together, air in and exhaust out, what else do you need!!
The real difference will be when I do a long run to see how the fuel efficiency goes but judging by the difference so far it will be favourable.
