The K&N 69-6000TP Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Mazda Miata and MX-5 models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-6000TP air intake comes with a black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filter that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive chrome-like finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor, air temperature sensor and crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a couple of screwdrivers, a ratchet set, pliers and an Allen wrench. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

This made an amazing performance difference in my new Mazda Miata MX5. Thanks!!!!!

I like your products. I have 3 vehicles; a Mazda Miata, a Toyota Tacoma, and a Harley soft tail, and all three have your air cleaners. I also use your KN-171C oil filters on the Harley.

I used the same K&N drop-in filter on my 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD from 2002 to 2007, when I sold it.  The new owner of the car is still using the filter I purchased years ago.  I'm now using K&N air filters on my 1993 Mazda Miata, and my 1991 Mitsubishi Galant VR4.  It has made a night-and-day difference on the Miata, especially in low-end torque.  On the Galant, I now hit boost 200-300 RPM sooner, and I can definitely feel the difference in power.  Not only are K&N air filters proven to perform, they are also built to last.

Plus, K&N oil filters always have a nut welded on to the end of each filter.  As someone who changes my own oil, that's a godsend.
