The K&N 69-3500TB Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Ford Escort ZX2 models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-3500TB air intake comes with a black rubber topped K&N high-flow air filter that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive blue powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor and a replacement silicone crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, ratchet set and an Allen wrench. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

Customer Feedback

I replaced my air filter in my ford f-150 with the K&N filter and noticed an improvement right away. I have had it for a couple of weeks now and have also noticed my fuel mileage has gone from 18.7 mpg to 19.9-21.6 mpg (depending on highway vs city driving). I have used K&N filters in my 1994 corvette as well in the past. Great purchase that pays for itself quickly.

I bought a K&N filter shortly after buying my 1997 Ford F-250 deisel (new). I just replaced the filter (the rubber had a crack in it) with 225,000 miles on it. Great product and I believe it boosted power as well (although it is the only filter I have had on that truck). Now I will use the old filter if the new one needs cleaning If I don't have time to clean and re oil the other one, if i need to go somewhere. Great product.

I absolutely love my intake I have a 2013 Ford Fusion SE 1.6L, and I couldn't wait for this part to arrive. The instructions are very crisp and easy to read, and I had no issues with assembly. I have no experience working cars but had no issues installing the part myself. It is quite simple I removed the factory pipe and filter, after removing the inlet air temperature sensor and EVAP vent line connected to the pipe. Probably the most difficult part was installing the new rubber grommet into the pipe for the new inlet sensor, and ensuring you remove the correct bolt on the thermostat housing so you can attach the bracket for the new pipe. I left that bolt loose until the new pipe was fitted where I wanted it, then tightened the bracket. I took my time and installed it in just over an hour. I then took the car for a test drive on the interstate. The first thing you notice, (other than the unique sound) is the acceleration. With my old piping the car would accelerate sluggishly, even when the gas pedal was floored. Not anymore, acceleration is powerful and smooth. During cruise an increase of about 5-7 MPG was noticed. The MPG did take a slight hit when driving in the city, or anywhere with a lot of stopping and starting. This is a must have for any 1.6L Ecoboost owners
