The K&N 69-2001TS Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some BMW M3 models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-2001TS air intake comes with an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive silver powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor and air straightener. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a screwdriver, pliers, dikes, ratchet set and some wrenches. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake.

I have a 1998 BMW M3 with your K&N Intake system, and I LOVE your intake, the installment was very easy, instructions were clear and very helpful for those not mechanically inclined, and the intake fits well. I can feel the extra power gained from the intake and my gas mileage improved from 18.9 to 20.9 MPG. If you have a BMW M3/328/325, this is the intake to have!

I've been using K&N filters since the 1970's on everything from my Hondas and KTM dirt bikes to my Ducati's and BMW, to my off road trucks and Corvette's. Have never had a problem in any way shape or form, as the saying goes. I'm sure my new turbo charged SUV will greatly benefit as well.

I've been using K&N air and oil filters for many years now, cars and motorcycles. The last car I had was a BMW 525i and I consistently calculated a 3-4 mpg (highway) improvement in gas mileage. I recently purchased a 2012 Infiniti M37 and am averaging 2-3 mpg improvement on the highway. I just like the fact I don't have to change the paper filters often and do notice better gas mileage on the highway which makes me feel a little better since I have to use premium grade. When I checked all the auto parts stores they didn't have them or told me they were on backorder. I called K&N directly and they were shipped out quick. Customer service was above average and worked efficiently. And if you ever decide to engineer and sell automobile CABIN FILTERS that have carbon/charcoal layer and are oiled with a light scent, SIGN ME UP! I hate changing the air filters so often. There is a model of the Infiniti that has a feature called Forest Air that people seem to love. Unfortunately, mine doesn't have it. Just sayin. Thanks.
