The K&N AirCharger 63-1566 air intake system replaces the restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing in some Jeep Wrangler models. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your Wrangler’s engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 63-1566 air intake comes with a chrome topped K&N high-flow air filter and a K&N embossed heat shield that mounts into the lower air box to act as a cover allowing cooler, denser air to be directed through a custom molded intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The oversized air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install requiring only a screwdriver, a socket set and several wrenches. This air intake cannot be sold in California. It is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards.

Review part 63-1566

Easy install. It took about twenty minutes. Nice Throaty sound, also a nice increase in Pep....especially on acceleration. Overall a really great upgrade.

I just followed the instructions and everything went together as supposed too. The hardware is a little confusing, but got through the positioning the first time. The intake sensor removal was tricky, but doable. In the end very happy. VROOM...

Install is relatively easy, though instructions were not straight forward in places. Performance exceeded my expectations. A must for the Wrangler owner.

I like this product; it is installed on a 2015 Jeep JKU. I believe it adds a little top-end power, creates a little nicer tip-in of the throttle in response, and makes the 3.6L Pentastar engine sound a whole lot better without being too loud although at top-end, it really screams. The instructions are inadequate; however the company ships this intake system with a bag of bolts and expects that you are going to figure out which bolts go where. It is not what you would call an easy install but any amateur mechanic should be able to complete the job. Watch out for the air-temp sensor; it is difficult to remove and install without accidentally destroying it. Overall a quality product with good improvements, although they are pressing it for $300. I think it is worth the money.

This is the third vehicle on which I have installed one of these intakes and I am again enormously pleased. Installation is pretty easy, with only one minor problem with the length of the provided crankcase breather hose (slightly short, very stiff). The solution was easily improvised, improved performance was immediate, and continued to improve after being driven for a few weeks. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a new Jeep. Original engine performance was OK, but anemic compared to the old straight 6. With the K&N intake, acceleration is improved significantly, and I can now use 5th and 6th gear much more often, even on slight grades, which was not possible before. Great product.

I spent about 90 minutes installing the new performance intake kit on my 2014 Unlimited Dragon. The instructions were straight forward and everything went together perfectly. The toughest part for me was removing the intake air temperature sensor from the factory inlet tube. I didn't want to damage or destroy the sensor, so I took my time. It just took a little brute force to pull the sensor and o-ring out of the tube. The rubber hose connection for the crankcase vent tube at the engine was a very tight fit, but it doesn't require a clamp. I didn't notice any change in the tone or volume of the engine intake noise at idle or at cruising speed. If anything, the air intake noise seemed to be a little quieter. As soon as I made a couple 3/4 throttle accelerations I could immediately feel and hear the change in the engine. At full throttle the change was fantastic. I had flashbacks to the sounds of the back 2 barrels of a quadrajet carb kicking in. The engine revved up so quickly that the RPM limiter kicked in before I could let off the pedal. With the addition of my cat-back dual exhaust and the K&N Performance Intake kit, my ride now sounds and feels like a new machine.
