Hi, I am living in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and driving a 2010 - Suzuki Grand Vitara (2.0L). Recently I was thinking it would be nice if I can add few more horse power & acceleration to the car, especially when you drive an SUV (with auto gear) moving like slow military tank when starting from any traffic signal.

So, for past 2 days I was doing some serious online research and found following ways to increase the performance of your car engine:

1.) Turbo Charger: can easily increase up to 100 HP, however it is expensive (costs up to 1 lakh or 2000 US$), very difficult to find the right turbo that suits your car and a good installer. If you are serious about having a turbo, then its better to buy a car with a factory fitted Turbo like Subaru-Impreza, Lancer-Evolution or even a simple car a Turbo charged Volkswagen-Golf. Turbo charger don't need any external power supply and rotary vanes are operated by the exhaust air pressure.

2.) Super Charger - I don't like the working principle of forced induction of air using compressor & external power source, which can also void factory warranty

3.) Adding a Performance Chip to modify your car's onboard computer. (I am apprehensive against changing any default factory setting)

4.) A simple & easy solution is fitting a K&N air filter. When I decided to fit the K&N filter and drive to the accessory shop, I was thinking my money is going down in the drain (because there is a million sites giving both good & bad news about this air filter).
However, considering the initial cost vs. actual benefits , I thought it is worth it to take the risk and got the K&N filter fitted last evening.

Before fitting the filters, if I wanted to speed-up & press the accelerator, the engine RPM gets raised (as it the car is in neutral), instead of the actual power transfered to the wheels. But now, I must say there is a tremendoud increase in power & acceleration in the engine. The throttle response is instant when you press the accelerator, the engine sound is also smooth & peppy and it's fun driving now and great to see your car talking to you in a different way suddenly after a small modification like changing the air filters.

It takes only just 4 clips to remove and fix the new filter and available for almost every car model manufactured in the world. The average cost should be between 40 - 120 US$$ depending upon the model of your car. The cost is nothing when you compare to benefits such asincrease in horse power, acceleration & mileage.

I would strongly recommend everyone to fix this performance part in your vehicle for happy motoring experience & enjoy driving.

The filter is designed for the life time of the car and needs cleaning only every 50,000 miles.

All the best. Thanks to K&N filter, Now I enjoy my ride even better.

Factory OEM Replacement Air Filter

I have a 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL7 with a 2.7 V6 engine. The car has over 130,000 miles on it and still runs great. Today I bought a K&N (33-215) OEM replacement filter. I live in the mountains in Colorado and drive to Denver a lot. Before I put your replacement filter in my car it was constantly shifting up and down coming up the mountain from Denver. I noticed right away that my engine was running smoother and when I came back up the mountain my car's transmission only shifted a few times all the way up the hill. The automatic transmission shifts ever easier and the horse power gain is significant. I can’t believe the difference. I am going to tell the world about K&N. I am going to put a filter on my 1974 Ford F250 which has 98,000 miles on the engine. I can’t wait to see what your product does for my truck.

Thank you very much for a really great product.
