I have a 2008 Jeep Compass, with 9,000 miles on it.EPA rated at 22mpg city and 27mpg highway. I live in the country so 70% of my driving is highway.
Since installing a cold air intake and high performance muffler I average between 28.5 and 29.5 mpg. But when I installed the K&N Lifetime air filter, when I had 1/2 tank of gas, it averaged 30.5mph, so I will properly average average 31.5mph. I am impressed!

Being a long time user of K&N OEM replacement filters this review has been 15 years in the making. During that time I have owned four vehicles all fitted with K&Ns. Every filter has flawlessly performed for me. I have never had a single problem or sign of a problem in using them. I mention this because in researching my latest K&N filter for my 08’ I noticed a few claims they cause MAF sensor failures. I would personally argue that the opposite is the case they probably actually help prevent MAF sensor failures. What I have seen is improved acceleration and throttle response in my vehicles. In addition to the money I have actually saved by not buying disposable filters every 12k, the little K&N sticker keeps the quick lube guys out of my air box.
(K&N NOTE - See http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/massair.htm for MAF sensor info.)

Last year I replaced the stock air filter in my 1981 BMW R65 motorcycle. I knew it ran rich (carburetors) but I went from 40mpg to 48mpg with the K&N. This year when my Honda Civic needed it's first air filter I went with a K&N- it'll be the last one I need.

Our 1981 mk1 Fiesta was in need of some TLC when we bought her a couple of years ago. This was exactly what she got.
After having this rebuilt and having upgraded the engine with Ford RS parts and a Weber 36 double carbs setup, we finished the engine with a high compression head (10.3 to 1), a Pertronix electronic ignition, a 40kV coil and Accel Super Stock plug wires, together with a set of Bosch Super 4 plugs.
This all made the car feel and drive much better, mpg increased from 32mpg to 39mpg, but she still missed some 1981 retro pizazz under the bonnet. The K&N filter gave her just that. After a couple of thousands of miles we were pleasantly surprised, as she became more and more responsive, and the mpg increased to 44mpg combined (city, b-road and highway).
(The mpg is calculated using the US Gallon.)

Great product guys. I installed a new exhaust on my truck and didn't feel the real power until I bought the K&N filter. Much better gas mileage and power than with standard filter. I'm so impressed that I am now saving for the whole new intake system. P.S. I have an old ford ranger and it feels like a modern day car. Now I want the T-Shirt.

Great to read all the testimonials, and I'd have to say that having used K&N filters all my days - I would agree with all the praise!
Now a bit older and owner of a Lotus 1.8 Elise S, I needed something to make this already special car even more exiting. So fitted the Apollo kit and must say that this is the best induction kit I have used.
The extra sound from the Apollo is only apparent when the gas pedal is almost at the end of it's travel, so there is no kiddy boy-racer sound to be had here!
Extra flexibility is evident throughout the rev-range, and the car pulls much more cleanly to the red line - just what I wanted!
Other kits don't come close when it comes to vehicle application suitability, and it is obvious research and design time/energy has been put into making this great little filter work for my car.
Criticisms would be the slightly cheap plastic which broke from its thread used in the 1/4 breather attachment (goes into the new moulded intake pipe) I fixed this with trusty 'ISOPON P38 easy sand'
Elise owners - DO NOT tighten this to the end of the thread.
The instructions- although detailed, should include removal of the wheel and inner wheel arch lining to access the air-box clips and mounting bolts, and for easy instalment of the new flexi-pipe which sits at the car's side vent.
Thanks K&N and good job once again!

I have been utilizing K and N filters and air intake systems now for 15
years and I tell everyone to use them without hesitation. The K and N is simply an excellent product without a doubt. When I purchase a vehicle the first upgrade I purchase is a K and N filter or an intake. My 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Hemi already runs good - with the K and N intake it runs great-smooth-sounds nice-good mileage. Works in conjunction with my other upgrades to give me a real world 24.3 mpg on the interstate and 15.5 or better in town.

Thanks K&N, for the awesome cold air intake system. It was easy to install and has given me at least 10-12 extra horses under the hood. I've also gained another 2-3mpg which is helpful when gas is so expensive. I'm not much of a mechanic but I did have a buddy watch as I installed the performance part and was surprised at how easy it was to install. Thanks again. I will definitely recommend getting a K&N Cold Air Intake to any and all of my friends.

K&N:
I have been using your filter since my car had about 60,000 miles. I am now at about 207,000 miles and my car still does not burn any oil. There is no lifter knocks or any signs of an old engine.
I live in Illinois and drive the Tristate Tollway (I294) ever day. It has been under construction for the last two years, but this year they have stepped up the work a lot. I am continually driving through dust and most times and don't even want to wash my car because I know it will be all dusty the next day. I had cleaned my filter in the spring April or May of 2009 and driven approximately 6000 miles since I just cleaned it today.
I thought with all the dust that I should probably clean it again. When I opened the compartment and first saw the filter from the engine side, I thought it was still OK (It looked like the day I last cleaned it.). Then I looked at the other side that was extremely dirty. I sprayed the filter with your Air filter cleaner and let it sit the suggested 10 minutes. When I rinsed the filter, there was actual mud or perhaps concrete dust coming off the air side of the filter. I washed it again and again there was the same mud, but to a lesser degree. After four washings I finally got it clean.
I would hate to think of all those people running I294 with paper air filters. When I used to change the paper filter it was always dirty on the inside. I assume this let some dirt in the engine. Yours was just as clean as when I last cleaned it, on the engine side.
I think your filter may have saved my Monte Carlo engine from a problem, even though it has high mileage that some people would consider a normal death.
I am looking to 300,000 miles. Thank you for keeping my engine clean and operating for the next 100.000 miles.

My father just bought his first new car in 15 years, a 2009 Toyota Corolla with a 1.8. He loved his new car but said it needed a little something. I was thinking of getting him just a drop in K&N air filter but ended up buying the Typhoon intake system. I asked him if I could take it for a little spin and swung by my house to install the kit. I had it in and was back to his house in 45min. The install was extremely easy and could be done by anybody. This intake really woke the car up and I will never forget the smile on his face when he got a little tire in second gear. I would recommend this product for anyone looking to add a little spunk to their Corolla.
Thanks K&N!

1999 Dodge 25005.9 Cummins. After 2 months of driving, after installing the 57-1525 kit (very easy install) my fuel mileage has gone from 20.9 to 22.5 mpg.
That is all local (35-55 speed limits) driving. I'm sure a longer trip with open highway would add at least another mpg, probably more. I haven't noticed much difference in throttle response, I'm not a jack rabbit get off the line driver. Very pleased with the results!!

I would just like to say that I am very impressed with your products! I just bought a 2008 ford focus. The car looks great and great on gas but felt it could use more pep. I got a typhoon kit, installed it in about an hour with the help of my neighbor who's a mechanic. I immediately felt the increased performance it gives! I also noticed increased I gained some extra km's per tank of gas. I will use your products in any future vehicle I own.

The very best filter I ever used. I owned a 1992 Lincoln Town car that got 29mpg highway and 17mpg in town. After putting in the k&n air filter my mileage jumped to 20 in town and 36 on the highway. I couldn't believe it. The car was getting the same mileage as some smaller cars with v6's. Thanks for saving me a bunch of money at the pumps.

Hi, I am from Honduras, Central America and I am so happy with this filter, I bought a K&N filter while in Chicago, Illinois for my Toyota 4runner 22R motor, six months ago and she is running so smoothly, the gas mileage is so incredible...even, I didn't clean it yet...
It is worth it to use these kind of filters, because here in this country there are a lot of hills, dusty roads, etc. But the performance is great...
I totally recommend K&N!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started using your products with the purchase of your aftermarket filter for my Polaris 500 Sportsman after a recommendation from a friend. I immediately gained better throttle response and picked up about 4 miles per hour on my top end speed. My experience with the ATV led me to purchase one for my 2000 Ford F150 where I gained on throttle response, acceleration, and a very noticeable difference engine performance when towing my camper and car trailer. I'm a firm believer in your products and put them on all my vehicles if there's an application available. Keep up the good work,

Hello All,
I just wanted to say that your product is just awesome!!! I'm from Sydney in the land down under with a Nissan S15 Silvia in my driveway, which is now a car that performs and sounds a hell of a lot better than what it did, and its all thanks to your filter. I have used a K&N 3 Pod type filter of some type (Don't have part number with me) and the induction sound and the blow off sound from the turbo is just amazing!!! The performance is so good I can even feel the air being sucked quicker through it as well as hear it!
Keep up the good work K&N, I will be sure to always use your filters from now on!!

I first started using K&N filters in its infacy back in the 90s when any one that had a 5.0 the first thing u did was buy a K&N filter to feel the immediate results. I have since bought a filter for my 93 trans am and the complete K&N cold air intake for my 2000 Trans Am which improved the horsepower by 17 horses and I'm ordering one for my 2004 Toyota Sienna van that just became available...worlds best air filter?..no arguements here..

I just began servicing my wife's 2007 Scion TC, in lieu of the dealer, and installed a K&N cartridge filter this afternoon. I have always been a skeptic, but I chose K&N for this vehicle because of the 1,000,000 mile warranty, and reputation for quality that even my local stealership cannot deny. When it pays for itself in three filter changes, what do you have to lose?
As far as power, I chirped the tires at half-throttle shifting into second. It may just be semantics, but it made me grin... and here I felt the need to say it. I'll buy K&N again.

Recently installed a drop-in filter into our family Toyota Sienna mini-van (2000). Since we bought it the mpg was poor, no more than 16mpg.
On a recent trip to Maine, the van was loaded, and we were cruising 65 - 75 mph with the a.c. on most of the time with some stop & go. It averaged OVER 20 mph. This is my third K&N filter & the best results to date. I recommend K&N to everybody I know.

K&N Filters are the best. Oil, Air, Fuel. Doesnt matter. If you own an internal combustion engine there is no excuse not to be using one. The multiple benifits so far outweigh the cost of buying just one filter as opposed to ten's over the lifetime of your car, truck, bike or boat.

I just recently purchased a k&n filter for a 2008 chevy colorado 4X4, 3.7, 5-cyl engine. The truck ran well and good power, but it just did not have the pickup I thought it should. So I decided to try a k&n filter. I am glad I did, gas mileage went from 15 to 20 around town, I am really surprised at the hp increase. I will get back later when I take it on a trip. thanks K&N

Hi!
I just wanted to send you a copy of my pre and post install dyno's.
I have a (2005) 50th Anniversary Thunderbird (Cashmere).
It has a 3.9L gas V8.
It just turned 51K on the odie.
Previously getting 22.79 mpg.
(Haven't yet refillled after install).
Installed a 69-3520TP Typhoon (not listed on your site for 2005 model year). I knew it probably wouldn't be warranteed since it was not offered on my model year.
I was willing to eat the $ pain if for some reason it bombed.
I didn't think it would.
And it didn't!
Check it out.
Before: 243.0 hp at the wheels
After: 259.5 hp
The unit went on like a dream -in no time at all!
The TBird forums are loving it! Data proof!
Hope this brightens your day!
HUGE K & N FAN!!!
Thanks!
