K&N's Carbon fiber composites have attractive cosmetic appeal, and the outstanding stiffness to weight ratio that is needed to stay competitive in today's racing industry.  Carbon fiber composites have taken the method traditionally associated with fiberglass and perfected it to a precise science with outstanding performance as the result.  The process of advanced composites controls resin and fiber content to exacting tolerances. Though traditional methods have proven successful in producing a variety of products; advanced composite products can be engineered considerably stronger and assembled with even greater accuracy.  K&N's Advanced Composite Division offers products to really get excited about.

Carbon fiber, as a raw material, has been treated to handle heat from below 0 to 2500 degrees Fahrenheit. In most cases the limiting factor is the matrix or resin system, not the reinforcement material such as carbon fiber, fiberglass or Kevlar. Epoxies are no longer a simple brush on mix of basic compounds. Chemists have spent years maximizing the function of the matrix by blending epoxies with ceramics and a number of other ingredients. It is a precise science where strength, durability, function and temperature all have to be considered. Our products are engineered with specific resin systems for application specific needs. These products must take into consideration such things as: fire retardant resins, ceramic blends to handle high heat and flexible systems for damage tolerance. This same kind of consideration goes into everything K&N makes.

Carbon Fiber Lid

K&N has taken advantage of the lightness, strength and durability of carbon fiber to bring you our Carbon Fiber Lid. This new lid combines all the necessary features for racing with the good looks only carbon fiber can provide. Easy to install. This top lid fits K&N air filters part numbers E-3740, E-1650, E-3743, E-3745, E-3730, E-3750, E-3732, E-3760, E-3770 or any round air filter with an 14" outside diameter. At 4.6 oz this lid weighs 1/4 as much as our standard chrome top plate.

 Billet Aluminum Spoked Lids
A recent addition to our Custom 66 Series™, these 14” assemblies feature a billet aluminum spoked lid with a carbon fiber insert.  Both fit 5 1/8” carburetor flanges.  Full assemblies using these lids are shown on Custom 66 page.

CARBON FIBER INJECTION STACK FILTER
Lightweight, yet durable, K&N's Carbon Fiber Injector Stack Filter is a must for any racer currently using traditional multi-Siamese stacks. Constructed from ultra-light weight carbon fiber. A Carbon Fiber Injector Stack Filter provides ample airflow for your racing needs. The base does not have any holes cut through, so it can fit most any stack configuration. Once the base has been put in place, simply slip the main filter assembly over the stacks. Supplied spring clip clamps keep the filter securely together for positive seal and ease of servicing. Extra large box. 27 3/16" x 16 1/8" OD.

If maximum airflow is what you are looking for, this airbox is your ticket, flowing at up to 2700 CFM. K&N has constructed the base portion of this assembly from carbon fiber to fit from 2"to 2-5/8" Hilborn, Kinsler and Engler stacks. This allows you to do away with clamping a filter on to each individual ram tube. Once the base has been put in place, simply slip the main filter assembly over the stacks. Easily done and at only 3.4 lbs., this airbox will allow your vehicle’s engine to breathe all the clean air it needs to make you a winner. These air box assemblies are used on sprint cars as well as other racing vehicles where light weight and high air flow are desired.  As with all K&N air filters, universal air box assemblies are washable and reusable air filters. Simply use K&N oil and cleaner to service your filter.

NHRA Pro Stock Composite Hood Scoop
This ultra strong and light carbon fiber scoop was designed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD).  This design provides an 18 lb. decrease in drag. The K&N scoop also produces more even air distribution inside the scoop, which helps naturally aspirated engines run better and produce more power. In addition to NHRA's Pro Stock class, the scoop can also be used in Super Stock, Super Gas, Top Sportsman, Pro Mod classes and other racing applications.
