Stafford Springs at Connecticut Speedway hosted round six of the AMA Supermoto Series. The layout of the track was fast with a nice "dirt" section, which was built out of sand.

Ben Carlson leads Unlimited Class
Both riders from the Factory Aprilia Rip It Energy Fuel team set great qualifying times for gate positions. Darryl Atkins was in 2nd place to KTM rider Kurt Nicol. The time difference was only .007. Ben Carlson was .700 behind Atkins. The scores put Atkins and Carlson in the same qualifying heat race.
Atkins took his first win on the Aprilia over Carlson which put Atkins on the pole and Carlson third. At the green light, it was Nicol, Carlson and Atkins heading into the dirt section for the first time.
During the 16 lap race, both Atkins and Carlson could not find ways to move up to the top. Nicol took the checkered with Carlson only one second behind and Atkins one second behind Carlson.
In the 450 class Carlson worked his way to the front and lead for two laps before losing the front end and crashing out of the race. Atkins struggled with a bad start and missed a first corner pile up. He worked his way from 19th to 7th on his first 450 event of the season.
“As we head into Nashville this weekend Ben leads the unlimited class by 33 point,” said Atkins. “I’m two points away from third and currently in 4th position.”
