NBA Star Michael Jordan Re-Signs AMA Suzuki Racer Aaron Yates

AMA Superstock and Superbike racer Aaron Yates has renewed his contract with the Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki Team for the 2008 season. Legendary NBA star Michael Jordan formed Michael Jordan Motorsports in 2004 because of his passion for motorcycle racing.

Yates joined the Jordan Suzuki Team in 2007 and has earned four front row starts and the team’s first ever podium finish in Superbike at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway. Yates also earned a second place podium finish in Superstock.

Yates, a four time AMA champion, won titles in the 1000 cc Superstock, 600 cc Supersport, 750 cc Supersport and SuperTeams classes. The 33-year-old racer has also earned 43 AMA National victories, four wins in AMA SuperTwins (Harley-Davidson 883) class and four wins in AMA Super-Teams Endurance competition.

“Aaron is a great competitor, with a lot of heart and determination,” said General Manager Ken Abbot. “He never gives up and works very hard for his team. He has been a great asset to the Jordan Suzuki Team and to the development of our Superbike. K&N Filters are also a part of our performance program which helps us get to the podium.”

The Jordan Suzuki riders and crew have two more race weekends in the 2007 Superbike Championship at Road Atlanta August 31 –September 2 in Braselton, Georgia. The season finale is September 14-16 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.
