Schatz is on a winning streak this season. The defending World of Outlaws Champion is leading the World of Outlaws championship standings and also captured the so-called “month of money.” The Fargo, North Dakota native won the Kings Royal, the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup and the Summer Nationals.

The biggest prize of them all is the Knoxville Nationals. “My guys have been awesome,” said Schatz. “We battled extreme conditions and even lost one of our guys to dehydration. It’s always been a total team effort. The ParkerStore Team refuses to quit and all they want to do is win.”

Last year was awesome, Schatz said after the win. “Any time you can come back and double up on anything it’s great. This is it. It does not get any bigger than this,” he said. “We are fortunate to work with such great product sponsors and without them we wouldn’t be here. The folks at K&N Engineering build a Carbon Airbox that is second to none. When you are racing in an event of this magnitude, you have to be totally confident in all of your components.”

Schatz started on the pole in his ParkerStore No. 15 J&J and broke from the pack after the second lap. He was never seriously threatened. Joey Saldana finished in second place, 4.55 seconds behind Schatz.

Now Schatz has his sights set on becoming the first three-time winner of the event since Steve Kinser captured five in a row from 1991 through 1995.

A crowd of 100,000 attended the four-day Nationals, with a near-capacity crowd of about 23,000 on Saturday night.
