On June 23, he participated in a 35 lap race with 31 competitors. “It only
had three caution periods,” said Swanson. “This made room for lots of good

Swanson qualified in 12th position and set a goal for himself, to get his first
top-five finish. “It seems like every race is getting harder to finish in a top
spot because as I get better, so are the people I race with,” said Swanson. “The
first stretch was 15 laps and I moved into 9th place. The field was tight and
everyone was fast. It was hard to pass and I had to take advantage of every
little mistake that my competition made. But, everyone was doing the same

Swanson moved into 7th place after the caution and stayed there for 7 more laps.
At lap 23 he moved up to 6th place and began the fight for 5th place.

“This was the hardest part of the whole race,” said Swanson.”I passed the 5th
place competitor and the next lap was slowed up by the 4th place driver. This
allowed the 6th place driver to move up along side of me.”
Over the next several laps, they raced hard to a dead even pace. “I was trying
to give him room so we wouldn’t take each other out,” said Swanson. “On lap 29 I
barely dipped below the line on the inside of the corner and was forced to serve
a stop and go penalty.” Swanson finished in 21st position. "Despite what
happened I was pleased with how I was doing up until the penalty," he said. "I
will not let something like that hurt my chances for a top five again."
Swanson's next race in the Legends Series is July 21st at Irwindale
