The course is similar to the Top Truck Challenge Series in California. Competitors face a rock garden, log cross, tire pit and a mud pit. The Stumph’s drove a Rock-rod turbo charged echo tech in the modified class. “It makes about 400 hp but the Nitrus injection puts us up to 550 hp,” said Craig Stump. “My son Mike was the driver at this event and I was the spotter.”

Mike Stumph received the most aggressive driver award. “Mike has been driving since he was 8-years-old and now that he has a driver’s license he has taken over the wheel of the Commando for some events,” said Stumph. “He did a great job driving and was the only driver in his class to complete the mud bog.”

Mike Stumph finished first in Log Cross, Tire Pit, Mud Pit and Rocks. The Stumph family uses K&N Engineering products. “We go through all kinds of nasty mud and dust,” said Stumph. “K&N filters protect our engines. I’ve used K&N oil and air filters since 1997 and would not use anything else.”

Electric issues hurt the Stumph family and kept them out of the overall. “We had been fighting the problem for two weeks and I thought we had it repaired,” said Stumph. “The electric gremlin hit and we had to be towed to the pits. We hope to have it fixed by the next race at Delta, Utah.”
