Miranda Throckmorton may be the first female to win a non-winged 410 sprint car event in the state of Indiana. The 15-year-old is definitely the first girl to win a sprint car feature at Paragon Speedway.

The high school freshman started in quarter midgets when she was only 4-years-old and worked her way up. One of Throckmorton’s major goals is to improve every week. Last Saturday, she took a giant leap towards that goal when she took her first career checkered flag.

“During the first half of the race, the bottom of the track was dry and slick,” she said. “As the race kept going, I went to the top of the track and my car just took off. We’ve been waiting for this win for a long time.”

Miranda Throckmorton Racing uses K&N Engineering products. “We noticed an increase in power when we put our K&N air filter on the dyno,” said Miranda’s father Bill Throckmorton. “K&N makes products that are easy to work with and easy to clean.”

Miranda’s father is a former sprint car racer. “He was the one to get me started,” she said. “I go to school and I come home and work on the cars. Understanding how my engine works helps me when I race. I’m able to understand any problem I may have and we can work on it right away.”

Throckmorton has a full schedule for 2007. She knows that getting laps and racing against the veterans are key components to being a good driver.
