Teen Racer Rules at NASCAR Whelan All American Super Late Model Series at Irwindale
Scott Dodd is serious about racing. The 19-year-old from Mira Loma, California won his first NASCAR Super Late Model race at Irwindale Speedway in April.
Scott Dodd wins NASCAR Super Late Model Race at Irwindale
Dodd qualified 7th out of 25 competitors and was placed in the second position for the start of the 50 lap main. He took the lead on the first lap of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Super Late Model Series. Dodd had to defend the lead after two yellow flags, but he was able to pull away from the rest of the cars each time and took first place.
Dodd is also leading in rookie points for the series. He moved to Super Late Models in 2007 after two seasons in the ASA Speed Trucks. “I’ve been racing for 11 years,” he said. “I started in midgets and moved my way up. I had the opportunity to race Super Late Models and I took it. This series allows me to get speeds of 125 to 130 mph on my racing resume.”
Off the track, Dodd builds factory race cars. He also uses K&N Engineering Products. “K&N Air Filters are the same has having a filter for life,” he said. “They are cost effective and last the lifetime of the engine. I use K&N on everything I own, from tow vehicles to personal vehicles and race cars. The quality can’t be beat.’
Dodd plans to race a total of 19 series races in 2007 including the Toyota All Star Showdown and the AC Delco Super Late Model Series.
