“Long before I was sponsored by K&N Engineering, I used K&N Products,” he said. “The quality of the products and the reputation of K&N are second to none. When you run 900 horsepower you run a very expensive engine. K&N Oil Filters protect my engines and the K&N Air Filters keep the rocks out of my turbo chargers. ”

The Sloatsburg, New York resident qualified in the No. 8 slot and started the race from the top half of the field. Ballard made his way through a field of challengers to capture his first win in the very competitive sportsman category. “We caught some lucky breaks,” said Ballard. “Plus, the car just ran consistent and fast. We were able to catch our competitors.”

Ballard said the full bodied unlimited modified Quick 16 cars have a different feel. “The win at Moroso gives me more confidence for the remainder of the NHRA season,” said Ballard. “I was a little sketchy at the first race since I wasn’t sure how I would be able to adapt to the new class. I feel that I will be much more comfortable at the next race and hope to ride the wave of success. I’m going to try my best to put the K&N Filters Chevy Cobalt in the winner’s circle again for the whole CSI Drag Racing Team.”

Ballard’s next race is the Virginia NHRA Sport Compact Nationals on April 21 and 22 at Richmond.
