“We have a major agenda this year,” said the 23-year-old team manager. “I know most people would think we’ve bit off too much, but everything should run very smooth with the great people I have.”

Lucas is mounting an all out assault on the Lucas Oil championship in 2007, racing his family-owned Lucas Oil Top Alcohol dragster in conjunction with his professional operation.

“I have 19 races set up for this season with the Alcohol car alongside my Top Fuel car,” said Lucas. “I don’t think it will be a big distraction because the driving styles are similar.” Lucas said he is comfortable with the Top Alcohol car and believes the more runs he can make on the quarter-mile the more he will improve.

“It gives me that many more hits at the tree,” Lucas said. “My folks have a practice tree, but I’m going to be using the one at the track. With all the stuff going on this year, we’re going to have fun.”

During his five year career, Lucas has five professional Top Fuel final round appearances as well as 10 Lucas Oil Division Top Alcohol wins with 11 final round appearances.

Top Fuel dragsters are the fastest accelerating vehicles in the world. “My super-charged engine produces between 7,000 and 8,000 horsepower,” said Lucas. “I run K&N Engineering Oil Filters on my cars. This way my engines are protected from debris and the filters are easy to install and take off. We save time during races with K&N Filters and saving time is important when it comes to pit stops and winning.”

“Our team is based in Indianapolis, so we’re going to declare for the NHRA Division 4 region, racing with Spencer Massey’s and Tom Conway’s cars,” he said. “Our plans are to get in there and duke it out with them. We’ll also run the national events.”
