On 14th the pressure was on Coolbeth at the season finale in Columbus, Ohio. The 29-year-old from Warren, Connecticut had to finish 4th to secure the title. Coolbeth also had to deal with seven-time championship Chris Carr. He was runner up to Carr in the 2005 season. Carr experienced problems with his motorcycle which brought an end to 5 consecutive AMA Grand National Championship wins.

“I felt a lot of pressure going into Scioto Downs,” said Coolbeth. It’s a lot of work, it’s all mentalOctober. I stayed focused and with the team effort, it happened for us this year.” Coolbeth managed to stay focused enough to win the series finale and his first AMA Grand National Twins Championship.

Coolbeth won at Lake Odessa, Michigan; Farley, Iowa and Columbus, Ohio in the 2006 series. Coolbeth’s three wins were the most of any competitor this year. The level of competition he faced was intense.
