K&N's Dyno-Jet Motorcycle and ATV Stand Assures Customers of Proven Performance
K&N Engineering Inc. has been the innovative leader in air filtration technology
since 1969. At K&N’s Riverside, California headquarters engineers test ATV’s and
motorcycles on a dedicated dyno, capable of handling up to at least 600 horsepower.
Dyno testing assures that customers receive products with proven performance.
The purpose of the K&N Dyno-Jet Motorcycle and ATV Dyno is to accurately measure
horsepower gains by comparing a stock vehicle against the same vehicle again.
This occurs after adding a K&N Filter or K&N System.

“We get new motorcycles and ATV’s as soon as possible from the manufacturers,”
said K&N Project Engineer Charlie Tissen. “We run a motorcycle or ATV stocked on
the dyno. We let all the numbers stabilize and then roll it at full throttle. We
see a torque curve and begin with a nice clean chart.”
The next step is to test new filters and combinations to achieve the best
results. “If we don’t have a filter that fits, I’ll mix and match from existing
molds for testing,” said Tissen. “We start doing the modifications and increase
the power curve. We want to get new K&N products made as soon as possible.”
Tissen has worked on race cars for nearly 35 years. Those race cars were
prototypes and most of the parts had to be made and tested. K&N Engineering has
a long history of experience, combined with first hand knowledge that goes into
every product sold.
“We have to test to see what the limits are,” said Tissen. “People look at our
kits and think it’s simple. It’s really not that simple. There is a lot of work
and testing involved so we can do a proper job and get the best product out for
the consumer as soon as possible.”
