“We arrived at 9:30 a.m. and the main event started at 8 p.m.,” said Laura. “We packed up and left the speedway after 11 p.m. I probably drove around 45 minutes the whole day.”

Laura qualified 4th but there was not enough time for a heat race. Irwindale was booked solid on the weekend of September, 23rd. “I started from 3rd position,” she said. “We had a 35 lap race and it was a good race. There were no cautions.”

Laura competes for K&N Engineering, Inc. She said it’s very important to drive with the right level of aggression. Previously, Laura raced karts in Europe where the track is very aggressive, sometimes dangerous. “In America, it’s somewhere in between,” said Laura. “I was in the second row at Irwindale and everyone wanted to pass and everyone looked for an opening. I held on and came in second.”
