A stock 2006 Lexus IS 250MT arrived in the middle of August at K&N Engineering’s headquarters in Riverside, California. When it leaves the K&N shop for SEMA 2006 (Specialty Equipment Market Association), it will be a heavily modified vehicle.

K&N’s Team only has about 10 weeks to get the Lexus ready for display in the K&N booth at Las Vegas, Nevada. There was an allotment of only 5 of the IS 250MT’s available for the entire country from Lexus. K&N put together a concept proposal and submitted it with success. It is an opportunity for both companies to have market exposure.

SEMA displays more than 500 of the best cars from around the country. It is a highly competitive venue and K&N’s concept went miles beyond the shell of the car directly into the internal mechanisms.

“I’m pleased we were selected, but not surprised,” said K&N Sport Compact Division Business Manager James Yim. “This is the 5th project car I’ve built for K&N. Companies are very particular about who gets their cars. Lexus let us know we were selected about two weeks ago.”
