The Josh McGuire Racing Team spent a recent weekend racing that could be considered successful at the least. In fact, their success earned them $10,500.00 in earnings. The team began the weekend with a trip to the Skyline Raceway, in Stewart, Ohio, where they were scheduled to compete in the Dirt Late Model class of the "Jack Shutts Memorial".

Referring to the heat race, the driver said, "We led till the halfway point, and then went to finish second. We were still within a few car lengths of the leader, but weren't good enough to keep him behind us. It was actually a blessing in disguise to run second. That allowed us to change a spring on the car that would turn into a really good move down the road. It is the move that won us the race (feature) and a few more afterward. If we had won the heat, we probably would not have made the change and then would have lost the race in the long run."

Lining up fifth in the 40-lap feature, McGuire eventually took the lead in the sixteenth lap. Holding the first place spot throughout the remainder of the race, the driver took the checkered flag and left the team anticipating what might transpire on the following day.

"The race was one of the best races most fans have ever seen," explained McGuire. "We ran 2 by two and three wide for the first 15 laps with four other cars. I know at least once we were even four wide. We were always beside another car until we took the lead on lap sixteen," he continued. "Luckily, a caution flag came out right after I took the lead, so that allowed us to start on the pole in front of everybody else.

We went on to pull away from the field during the rest of the race and won by a comfortable margin. Jason Montgomery, #21, was the last car I had to pass to take the lead. Jason started on the pole since he was the car that outran us in the heat race. The win was a real confidence booster for the whole team and especially for the next night at Richmond. We knew we had made some changes that would really pay off on our short track program."

Rolling into the Richmond Raceway, at Richmond, Kentucky on the following day, The Josh McGuire Racing Team was prepared to compete in the 24th Annual "Butterball Wooldridge Memorial". After recording the quickest qualifying lap, McGuire wasted no time continuing his winning streak, as he was the first to cross the finish line in his heat.

When the green flag waved and the main event was underway, Josh McGuire shot out and immediately took the lead. In fact, the driver never gave up the first place position throughout the entire fifty-lap race and in turn took the checkered flag.

"We were challenged on the restarts during the race, but were able to pull away once we could get five or six laps going into the run," stated McGuire. "I was worried about all of the drivers starting up front around me, as they have all won big races at that particular track. The key to winning was patience," he continued. "Also, getting a good starting position, which went back to qualifying. We were able to set a fast time, which got us the pole for the heat. Then our heat victory led to the pole of the feature. The closer to the front you start, the easier it is to win."

When asked the importance of his team, Josh McGuire explained, "Racing is not a one-man sport. You cannot do it alone. There is so much work to be done while you are at the track. I am lucky to have great family and friends that love to help out with the race car. I would not be racing at all without their help and support."

Josh McGuire is also acutely aware of the importance of properly maintaining his racecar. That in mind, the driver said, "We have been using K&N products for several years now, and find them to really be the best on the market for what we do. The air filters allow our engines to run longer between rebuilds, because no dirt ever enters into the system through the air filter. The oil filters keep our oil running clean and handles the enormous amount of flow that we put through them. K&N products simplify our maintenance program, and in the long run, save us money and time. They are the best. Why would anyone not want to use the best?"
