Tech Center Helps K&N Engineering Maintain Leadership position in Performance Filter Industry
RIVERSIDE, CA – K&N Engineering led the way when it created the washable, reusable air filter nearly 35 years ago. Since then, the company has taken numerous steps to stay at the forefront of technology.
Longtime believers in producing products that perform, K&N purchased its first chassis dyno more than a decade ago. Since then, every intake system K&N has built has been subjected to testing on the dyno. In spring of 2003, in order to keep up with the increasing development, K&N built a new facility and added a four-wheel Dyno-Jet 248 testing cell to its arsenal. The new facility is equipped with three dynos (one motorcycle, one two-wheel-drive and one four-wheel-drive). In addition, the facility boasts a complete fabrication shop and another shop for measuring and testing vehicles.
In 2004 K&N completed the next phase of its Product Development and Engineering validation, with an additional tool – a complete laboratory for testing the filtration abilities of its products. In the past K&N sent many of its products to an outside lab in Texas for validation. The new K&N facility allows engineers to complete much of their development in house. Outside testing and validation will still be used, when needed. To ensure K&N products work in all environments the new lab is completely temperature controlled and features a state-of-the-art engine dyno.
As the original innovator in performance filtration, K&N continues to learn from more than 35 years of experience with a watchful eye on the future.
